Dr. Jim FitzSimons has over thirteen years experience serving the companion animals of Cumming and the surrounding communities. A graduate of the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996, Dr. FitzSimons is experienced in emergency medicine as well as general practice. His areas of special interest include senior pet wellness, internal medicine, and oncology (the treatment of cancer). He and his wife Jennifer enjoy scuba diving, hiking, and travel. His furry family includes Edy, Angel, and Salem.
Heather Harkins was born in Port Allen, Louisiana, 15 minutes from Baton Rouge,LA. She attended Louisiana State University, followed by LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. She was awarded "Excellence in Surgery and Medicine" prior to graduating in 2006. She was then accepted into an internship at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Greensboro, NC, for a year. She worked in Duluth for three years before joining the team at Cumming Veterinary Clinic.
Dr. Harkins is currently living in John's Creek, GA with her husband and two daughters, and three dogs, Joe, Lucy Lou, and Barkley. Her special interests in veterinary medicine include preventative behavior disorders, internal medicine, and dermatology. She enjoys outdoors activities such as camping, hiking, skiing, and whitewater rafting. Her favorite camping trip was to Glacier National Park in MT.
