Quality Dental Care for Overall Health

Quality Dental Care for Overall Health

Dentistry ranks No. 2 on the list of the most undertreated wellness conditions in animals (No. 1 is obesity), making it the second most missed opportunity to keep our animals healthy and happy.

General-to-Advanced Care

At Cumming Veterinary Clinic, our high-speed, human-grade dental equipment allows us to perform a full range of dental services. We're capable of doing everything from routine dentistry that prevents problems to advanced care for animals in need of full mouth extractions.

Along with our comprehensive cleanings under general anesthesia, we use digital dental x-rays to assist us in helping clients make good decisions about their pets' oral health.

All animals receive a thorough pre-surgical exam and in-house bloodwork prior to anesthesia to minimize risks. Any identified problems that could increase risk will be addressed by your pet’s doctor prior to anesthesia.

How Often Does My Pet Need a Dental Visit?

One size does not fit all when it comes to oral care, which is one reason why wellness visits are important—so we can perform a thorough visual examination and make an appropriate decision regarding frequency of dental care.

We also consider your pet's breed, age, and sometimes your ability to brush or clean the teeth on your own. Annual dental visits are common, but some pets can go longer between professional cleanings.

Aftercare

Once we perform a professional dental cleaning, there are things you can do to delay the return of disease processes and space the cleanings farther apart. Brushing your pet's teeth once each week, for example, has the potential to delay another professional cleaning by as much as a year.

Education is an important component of veterinary dentistry. We discuss proper aftercare following every dental visit. It could save you money, and your pet will have a healthier mouth as a result.
